Sanguinelli Blood Orange Trees for Sale

Citrus made easy for growers, nurseries, and distributors

The Sanguinelli blood orange tree is one of the most admired Mediterranean citrus varieties, valued for its deep crimson flesh, smooth rind, and distinctive sweet-tart flavor with hints of berry. Originally discovered in Spain, it has become a reliable performer in California, producing consistently high-quality fruit. At TreeSource, we provide premium, disease-free Sanguinelli blood orange trees for sale, propagated under our clean stock program to ensure strength and health from the start.

The fruit of the Sanguinelli stands out not only for its striking color but also for its shape. Typically oval to slightly elongated rather than perfectly round, these oranges are medium-sized with a smooth rind that ranges from bright orange to tinged with red at maturity. Inside, the rich red flesh develops best with cooler winter nights, making it a true seasonal highlight. The fruit matures from winter into spring and is excellent for fresh eating, juicing, or adding vibrant flavor and color to recipes.

For smaller spaces, the dwarf Sanguinelli blood orange tree offers all the same qualities in a compact form, ideal for backyard growers or container planting. Despite its smaller stature, it produces generous crops of fruit with the same outstanding taste and appearance as standard trees.

How Our Sanguinelli Blood Orange Trees Are Different

When purchasing Gillette navel orange trees from TreeSource, growers receive clean-propagated, true-to-type material from verified budwood sources. We emphasize uniformity, strong root development, and early structure so trees establish quickly and grow evenly. Shipping is handled in heavy-duty palletized triwall containers designed to secure pots and protect canopies, ensuring trees arrive healthy, stable, and ready to plant.

For orchardists and collectors seeking a classic California navel with heirloom pedigree, the Gillette orange offers a balanced, true-navel eating experience and a reliable mid-season harvest window. Whether planted in commercial rows, boutique groves, or heritage blocks, Gillette connects growers to the foundational era of California citrus — supported today by TreeSource’s clean stock program and professional handling to ensure healthy establishment and long-term success.

Sanguinelli Blood Orange Tree FAQs

Are Sanguinelli blood orange trees shipped while they are dormant or actively growing?

Citrus trees of any type don’t go dormant like other fruit trees do. They don’t drop their leaves, and since our trees come from greenhouse facilities, they are actively growing year round.

What size pot will a dwarf Sanguinelli blood orange tree need?

The pot is not the factor in dwarfing trees that come from TreeSource. We use Flying Dragon rootstock to create a true dwarf, and those trees would be custom grown according to the tree contract. There are no dwarf trees available from our Box Ready Tree program.

Could you provide your pricing structure for Sanguinelli tree liners, including any bulk discount rates?

Pricing depends on quantity and rootstock. It is best to contact Sales to get specifics about pricing. Keep in mind that TreeSource is a wholesale supplier and has order minimums of 100 liners unless the trees are on the Availability List.

Why should I choose Sanguinellis over other blood orange tree varieties?

The Sanguinelli blood orange tree is an excellent choice if you want a reliable, flavorful blood orange with unique qualities. Unlike Moro or Tarocco, the Sanguinelli matures later in the season, giving you fresh fruit well into spring. Its fruit is medium-sized, slightly oval, with a smooth rind often blushed with red. Inside, the flesh develops a deep crimson color, especially with cool nights, and offers a balanced flavor that is sweet with subtle berry notes. Easy to grow and highly ornamental, the Sanguinelli provides both beauty and productivity, making it a standout among blood orange varieties.

How can I trust what I order will arrive in good condition?

TreeSource has been shipping trees nationally and internationally since 2000 and has developed methods that not only conform to strict USDA protocols but also ensure excellent arrivals to our customers. Since the USDA requires the box to be sealed, the box liner actually absorbs ethylene, which could cause leaf drop. Since the trees travel in the dark inside the box, it is normal for some leaves to fall off, but the first growth flush the customer gets will make up for an occasional lost leaf.
