Tango Mandarin Trees For Sale

Citrus made easy for growers, nurseries, and distributors

The Tango mandarin is arguably the most commercially important new citrus variety in the world. It was released to California in 2007 by the University of California, Riverside (UCR) citrus breeding program from an irradiated W. Murcott bud to produce a seedless fruit. It matures in mid to late season, typically February to May.

The fruit of the Tango mandarin is medium-sized with a bright, deep orange rind that is thin, smooth, and easy to peel. Inside, the flesh is juicy, sweet, and seedless, making it ideal for fresh eating, snacking, or juicing. One of the hallmarks of the Tango mandarin is its excellent balance of sugar and acidity, producing a rich, complex flavor that appeals to consumers of all ages. Its seedless nature makes it particularly attractive in commercial markets where convenience and eating quality are top priorities.

A Tango mandarin tree grows upright rather than forming a rounded canopy, giving it a more columnar or vertical appearance. This upright growth habit makes it particularly well-suited for orchards with high-density plantings and for growers seeking to maximize space efficiency. Despite its upright structure, the tree produces healthy evergreen foliage and fragrant white blossoms in spring. It responds well to pruning to maintain shape, control height, and encourage fruiting along the vertical framework.

How Our Tango Mandarin Trees Are Different

TreeSource has been the leading propagator of Tango mandarin trees since 2008. We stand out due to their combination of high-quality propagation, disease prevention, and certified nursery practices. TreeSource ensures our Tango mandarin trees are grafted onto carefully selected rootstocks that enhance vigor, disease resistance, and adaptability to different soils and climates. C35 and Rich 16-6 trifoliate stabilizes the trees’ upright growth habit, which is ideal for high-density orchards or space-conscious home gardens.

All TreeSource citrus trees, including Tangos, are grown under USDA and California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) certification, ensuring they are disease-free and compliant with strict regulations to prevent the spread of citrus pests and pathogens such as Huanglongbing (HLB) and Citrus Tristeza Virus (CTV). Our shipping process also reflects this care: trees are carefully packed using repurposed materials, coated with Kaolin clay in summer to prevent sunburn, and stakes and pots are returned for steam sterilization and reuse, reflecting TreeSource’s commitment to sustainability.

By combining certified, disease-free nursery stock, expert rootstock selection, and environmentally responsible handling, TreeSource’s Tango mandarin trees offer growers and home gardeners a reliable, high-quality tree that is well-suited for consistent fruit production and long-term orchard health.
