Hybrid Trees for Sale

Citrus made easy for growers, nurseries, and distributors

The category of hybrid citrus trees capture cultivars that don’t really fit into other groups. A Minneola Tangelo, for example, isn’t an orange or mandarin and it has grapefruit as a parent. Other hybrids like Melogold or Oroblanco are called grapefruit, but they really aren’t anything like normal grapefruits. Citrus tree hybrids are not as common, but TreeSource has a wide selection of the best hybrid products that don’t fit into standard categories.

How Our Lemon Trees Are Different

At TreeSource, we pride ourselves in giving accurate information regarding citrus cultivars. Although we may not call out every hybrid if the cultivar fits a category well, we will label them this way when they are in a class all their own.

One example is the Shiranuhi, which is also branded as Sumo Citrus®. This is a complex hybrid of orange x satsuma x mandarin, and the result is something unique. The Melogold is similar — it’s not really a grapefruit and not really a pummelo.

The experts at TreeSource can discuss these complex cultivars accurately, and you can depend on us to put them on the right rootstock and supply all the care instructions you’ll need.

Hybrid Tree FAQs

What is the recommended planting density for hybrid trees in a commercial orchard setting?

Just as the hybrid citrus category is extremely diverse, the various recommended planting densities will vary dramatically. Please contact us for information about your specific hybrid trees.

We’re interested in placing a custom order for hybrid trees and a few other tree varieties. What is the estimated lead time for a custom order like this?

Lead time is dependent on our availability. Keep in mind that TreeSource is a wholesale supplier to citrus farmers and nurseries, and we require order minimums. Sometimes you can skip the line and find what you need on our Availability page where we list surplus trees. This page only shows a small fraction of our overall inventory, so contact the sales team for more information.

We’re looking to source more mature hybrid trees for our retail locations. Do you currently have these available for purchase? If so, could you please provide details on the sizes you offer?

TreeSource does not specialize in retail-ready citrus. However, the Small Pots, Large Pots, or our Box Ready Trees are all very useful for shifting stock into one gallon to 36” boxes. We specialize in making finishing citrus easy by supplying high quality root systems that will rapidly fill your pot and develop quickly to a retail-ready status.

Do you offer more hybrid trees than are listed on your web site?

Yes. The Citrus Clonal Protection Program in California has a wide array of citrus hybrids, although they don’t always name them. Here is a list of all the selections that TreeSource can order and propagate. Keep in mind that order minimums will apply.

Do you offer any discounts for bulk or large-scale purchases?

Yes. Our Citrus Liner product page shows a sliding price scale, and there is a bulk discount for the Small Pots. Since TreeSource is a bulk supplier, our prices remain fairly flat on most products if you meet order minimums.
